I know we have all heard it before...you need to drink more water! Well if you are like I was and think I do drink water how much more do you want me to drink without floating away!

Well the truth is we should all drink half our body weight in ounces of water a day. So if you weigh 150 lbs that means you should be drinking 75 oz of water a day!

WOW seems like a crazy amount but here is why...

The average human body is made up of 75% water. The average adult loses up to 10 cups of water a day doing basic tasks like breathing, sweating, urinating, and eliminating waste.

Did you know...

Brain is 75% water.

Blood is 92% water.

Bones are 22% water

Muscles are 75% water.

Did you know that when you feel thirsty you are already dehydrated? So think of this in terms of pain...

Water helps cushion and protect joints so if you are running low on water aches and pains begin to show. Your joints are protected by cartilage which is made up mainly of water. When the cartilage is dehydrated it leads to weakness in the cartilage which leads to joint pain and inflammation.

Also when our blood gets dehydrated it causes it to thicken which slows the flow and in turn can lead to high blood pressure. High cholesterol can also come into play when dehydrated because your body begins to make more cholesterol to prevent water loss from your cells.

When there is a shortage of water in the body it can cause a build up of toxins and acid waste. This is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. The kidneys and bladder are then susceptible to infection, inflammation, and pain.

A water shortage can also lead to digestive issues like reflux, ulcers, and gastritis. It can lead to constipation due to the slowing down of waste through the intestines and colon. Constipation can lead to a whole list of painful side effects alone.

Water is the most vital source of energy so when we are not consuming enough our body systems begins to slow down which can result in fatigue and tiredness. Water also allows our natural energy systems to flow freely. When doing energy work it is essential to drink plenty of water especially before and after a session. It helps the energy flow and shift which then leads to healing.

So how is that for information overload!!! Now you know why the simple act of staying hydrated is so important. After taking all that in, drinking half your body weight in ounces a day seems the least you can do to support yourself and ease your pains. Right? Start mapping your trail to the nearest bathroom because with that much water we will all be making frequent trips, lol.

Happy Hydrating!

Sending Love,

Brooke
