There are so many foods that can help our body stay healthy but did you know there are actually foods that can help reduce inflammation and pain! Well I am just going to touch the surface of different foods that can help you heal and reduce your pain!

1. Wild Alaska Salmon

This is definitely a favorite of my household! Even my toddler and elementary age child love this!

Salmon is full of Omega-3 which is proven to help so many different ailments when added to a diet. It can help reduce the risk of a heart attack, reduce blood pressure, lower cholesterol, soothe symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, reduce PMS symptoms, etc...

When enough omega-3 are not present in the body pain may begin to present itself. This lack of omega-3s can cause severe inflammation, arthritis, joint and muscle pain, digestive issues, mental disorders such as depression, and even cognitive decline. So next time you are at a restaurant or just picking up food to make dinner, consider Wild Salmon as a healthy option.

2. Cherries

Tart cherries have been shown to provide powerful relief for people suffering from joint pain, arthritis, gout, and other inflammatory conditions. It can also help improve sleep quality and help manage sleep conditions. Lets face it...Our bodies regenerate, repair, and re-energize while we sleep so when we don't get the rest we need our bodies begin to feel it.

Cherries are high is potassium which can reduce muscle cramping and improve muscle strength. Potassium is also helpful in preventing strokes, reducing blood pressure and reducing cholesterol.

3. Dark Leafy Greens

Dark green leafy veggies like kale, spinach, and broccoli are amazing at fighting inflammation in the body. They are packed with calcium and iron as well. They are also one of the best sources of Vitamin E which has properties shown to reduce inflammation. Reduce inflammation within your body and that will reduce pain as well.

4. Ginger

Ginger is great a soothing joint pain as well as digestive upset. It is shown to help people with arthritis to reduce pain and improve mobility of the joints. Ginger is known for its anti-pain properties, similar to how capsaicin effects pain and nerve receptors.

Ginger helps detoxify the body so it can stay at a more healthy state. It helps with the absorption of essential nutrients withing the body. It can also help control blood sugar levels.

5. Eliminate or Reduce Processed Foods

I know this is not a food per say...but if you can eliminate or greatly reduce processed foods your pain will likely subside greatly. The food industry put so many chemicals and artificial ingredients in our foods to keep them "fresh" and "tasty" but what response does our body have to them. How and why do we expect our bodies to process ingredients that have been manufactured in a lab? Read your labels! A great rule to eat by is that if you can't read it then don't eat it. We all like fast and convenient meals but is it worth the pain it can cause in your body? Make this one change and it will change your quality of life.

So go forth and eat...healthy that is! Take back control of your health one bite at a time!

Sending Love,

Brooke
